With a phenomenal mini-album mesmerizing our ears and coursing through the airwaves, Alfie Templeman does more than just deliver when it comes to showcasing his talents. His beloved single and Tears For Fears-inspired tune “Everybody’s Gonna Love Somebody” left us wanting more from the talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, and boy did he not disappoint with the release of Forever Isn’t Long Enough.
Coming from this body of work is the funk-driven tune “Wait, I Lied,” where we hear Templeman embody all the things that make him a star in the making. The fresh indie-pop sound makes for infectious beats and catchy melodies ready for the summertime season. Trying to resist the tune’s smooth bass line and incredible hook is impossible as they pull you into Templeman’s optimistic world and allow you to bask in the rush of his unmatched songwriting. The video for “Wait, I Lied” channels the young artist’s bright personality and even features a clean cut maroon suit and some killer dance moves. Templeman shares:
“We filmed ‘Wait I Lied’ in a couple hours. The thing that I love about it is that the whole video was just ideas myself and Thomas came up with on the spot; it’s totally spontaneous, we didn’t plan anything and just went for it. I hope people appreciate my amazing dance moves, I think it’ll be my next career if this music thing doesn’t work out!!”
We cannot wait to see those dance moves live, especially knowing a Spring 2022 headline tour is on the way in the UK. But us in the US won’t have to wait as long since his maiden US headline tour, alongside shows with Chloe Moriondo, is yet to come later this year.
Featuring rapturous singles “Forever Isn’t Long Enough” and the aforementioned “Everybody’s Gonna Love Somebody”, the new mini-album is Templeman’s final and most substantial body of work before recording starts on his proper debut album. With an impressive 106k Instagram followers since his first post in 2019, over 1 million monthly Spotify listeners, and a cumulative streaming figure of over 60 million, Alfie Templeman has come a long way since the release of debut track ‘Like An Animal.’
