AVIV Recruits OCTAVIO the Dweeb For A Remix Of Her Breakout Tune “Black Coffee”

Putting a detailed spin on your emotions is always a fun way to romanticize the little things in life. AVIV does this in her breakout tune “Black Coffee” and takes her over-analyzed emotions into a new space by recruiting OCTAVIO the Dweeb to provide his talents and feelings on the song’s woeful character.

The tune’s warm, musical embrace is accented by its glassy synths, shimmering guitar riffs, and candid lyrics that bloom into a cinematic timepiece. While the breezy single still dictates a carefree nature, OCTAVIO’s added feature gives another lens to the tune and offers a distinct, raw spin. AVIV excellently captures those sublime emotions you feel as a teenager before you’ve been jaded by life’s lessons. Still, there is an err of melancholy, as AVIV illustrates:

“When you pour out your cup of black coffee, there are all of these grains in the bottom that stay there. Those grains are all of the things that could’ve been pursued, but the cup was already poured out. That’s the deeper meaning.”

AVIV is a 15-year-old Toronto singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist that pens the kind of affecting and arresting D.I.Y. pop that’s both nostalgic and prescient. After generating millions of streams independently and receiving acclaim from Atwood Magazine and more, she continues to perfect this approach on a series of singles for Photo Finish Records.
