Bay Area Rapper Chow Mane Tackles Drunk Texts & Booty Calls In His New Track “Late Nites” feat.

Bay Area hip hop artist & producer Chow Mane has officially released his new single “Late Nites”. Ahead of his highly anticipated summer EP release, the laid-back track presents a fitting introduction to what will be his “South Bay Summer” project. Faded and not ready for the night to end, “Late Nites” delivers a forever relatable scenario. Featuring pop/r&b artist Kitt Mae, the track captures that after-hours drunk text exchange that ends in both welcomed and regrettable booty calls. No matter how late it gets, they just can’t seem to get away from each other. The organic synergy between Kitt Mae and Chow Mane compliments the track’s buoyant production as they convey entertaining perspectives from both ends. They keep trying to get away but something keeps reeling them in, especially after a few shots of hennessy….or jungle juice. The new track is reflective of Chow’s ability to create melodic, unorthodox, carefully crafted art. As an 88’rising competition finalist, Chow’s raw talent is clearly undeniable.

His infectious delivery and playful vocals lend themselves to creating a fine balance between west coast hip hop and experimental pop. Previously coined, ‘far east trap’, his upcoming project comes off of his previous works “Simmering”, which celebrated his familial roots by incorporating vestiges of his family history. The project bounced back and forth from Mandarin-Chinese to English with a rhythm influenced by the bay area music scene. As an Asian-American originally from San Jose, Chow (born Charles Yan) has witnessed the ways in which immigration has affected his family and has chosen to take to art to shed light on that experience. “South Bay Summer” and especially “Late Nites” takes a more lighthearted turn to reflect the fun, summertime vibes that we’re all desperately craving after quarantine.
