Big Heath Brings the Bounce [VIDEO]

Writer: Nicholas ZalloNicholas Zallo

Since Cambridge (UK) MC Big Heath first game onto my radar with his single, “Plan”, last year, I have been paying close attention – and I’m not the only one.  With the release of his debut EP, “Lonely”, the Nas, DJ Semtex and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man championed artist found major support from tastemakers at home and abroad.  Coming a long way from when he first started rapping at the age of 10 when he discovered it helped him to manage his stutter, Big Heath is now an artist to watch with support coming from heavyweights like BBC 1XTtra, Radio 1, Link Up and GRM.

Having already inked a deal with Polydor and landed some major festival slots, Big Heath’s bigger than life attitude is well worth the hype – whether it be on stage, on social media or coming through your headphones.  Not afraid to embrace the things that make him different, Big Heath is without a doubt bringing something fresh to the UK Hip Hop scene and beyond.

Most recently, Big Heath has unleashed the lead single, “Bouncy”, from his forthcoming sophomore EP, giving fans a taste of what’s to come.  Over a banging beat from rising producer Barney Lister, Big Heath paints a picture of a young bruv ready for a night on the town.  With zero fucks to give and a pocket full of sunshine, there isn’t much that can stop the inevitable – it’s party time.  About the single he says, “Bouncy basically describes me, both mentally and physically. It’s onomatopoeic for how I am. The message of the song is a standard Saturday night for me when I was a teenager, getting off your nut and bouncing.

The playful and, well….. bouncy…..new tune, is yet another stand out track from the new kid on the block and helps to set up the new project in prime fashion.  Having been in the studio with Show N Prove (J Hus, Stefflon Don, Giggs), Ishi (Usher, Ne-Yo, Wretch 32) and Abaz (Tory Lanez, T-Pain, Gucci Maine), I have no doubt the new EP will be chock full of slaps.  Do yourself a favor and hop on the wave.
