Carter Brady’s latest release, "Shopping Cart", is a masterful testament to the evolution of modern rock. Brady, an indie multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Pelham, NY, has clearly honed his craft over the years, drawing from a wealth of influences and experiences. With roots in the rich New York indie rock scene, Brady has made a significant name for himself, having performed at iconic venues like Mercury Lounge and The Bowery Electric. Now, "Shopping Cart," only further helps to solidify his place as a contemporary voice in the Indie Rock scene, modernizing the beloved sounds of ’90s Alt-Rock with fresh production and heartfelt storytelling.

"Shopping Cart," reflects Brady’s deep appreciation for Rock music spanning more than the last three decades. After working tirelessly between 2021 and 2023, writing and recording more than 50 songs, Carter Brady distilled his ideas into this 13-track collection. Each song is a “prime cut” that captures the spirit of iconic bands like Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Weezer, while also tapping into the pulse of today’s Indie Rock with influences from newer acts such as Cage the Elephant, Soccer Mommy, and Slow Pulp. The album is a vibrant showcase of Brady's versatility, weaving through genres with catchy melodic hooks, impressive guitar work, and thoughtful lyrics.

Opening with the lead single, “We’re Talking,” Brady sets the tone for what’s to come. This track is a powerful introduction, built on an infectious guitar riff and Brady’s keen ear for melody. The big, anthemic sound captures a nostalgic yet fresh energy, with its driving rhythms and polished production - inviting listeners to lose themselves in the music. “We’re Talking,” is the perfect song to set the tone for what, "Shopping Cart," is all about: a bold, modern take on Alt-Rock.

As the album progresses, Carter Brady’s sonic palette continues to expand. The track “Instead” is a standout, with a grunge-inspired feel that helps to add some grit to the otherwise mostly uplifting and bright project. Brady’s vocals carry a raspy, raw quality here that lends authenticity to the song’s introspective lyrics. Another highlight is “So Late,” a track that brims with the harmonies and layered guitars fans might associate with Oasis. Brady’s photo by Alexa Jae

Grocery Store,” brings in another layer of diversity, nodding to The Strokes with a punchy bassline and upbeat tempo. Meanwhile, the psychedelic “Late Night Temptations” takes listeners into a dreamier soundscape, hinting at influences from Tame Impala. Each track on "Shopping Cart," seems to offer something new, demonstrating Brady’s remarkable ability to synthesize a broad spectrum of Rock influences into a cohesive album. The depth of "Shopping Cart," demonstrates Brady’s skill in creating emotional resonance through his music and his ability to leave listeners with a lasting impression.

A major strength of "Shopping Cart," is its authenticity. Brady’s live band—comprising Sammy Wags, Michael Iaciofano, and Ryan Datino—contribute on the album and in a performance setting, bringing a touch of improvisational energy from their backgrounds in Jazz and jam bands. This collaborative spirit, combined with Brady’s own instrumental prowess, results in a record that feels organic and dynamic. Furthermore, the inclusion of backing vocals from his younger siblings adds a personal touch, making the album feel like a labor of love from start to finish. The album has already secured some airplay on major AAA and Americana stations and a spot in the Top 100 on the College Radio Charts. "Shopping Cart," has also made waves on Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Charts, a testament to its appeal across multiple rock subgenres. The songs “Invincible,” “We’re Talking,” and “Go Home” have also gained recognition in songwriting competitions, with each track being recognized for its creativity and craftsmanship.

Brady’s decision to release a music video for every track on, "Shopping Cart," reflects his dedication to his art and his fans. This level of commitment is rare in the independent music scene, and it speaks volumes about Brady’s passion and vision. "Shopping Cart," is more than a collection of songs; it’s an experience that celebrates the evolution of rock music through the eyes of an artist who truly understands its nuances. With this album, Carter Brady has managed to create something that feels timeless yet relevant, proving that Rock can still offer new, exciting perspectives.
