Dyo Makes Stunning Debut with ‘Arena’ [VIDEO]

There seems to be a growing trend with new artists bursting onto the scene after spending years behind the scenes.  As an artist, the appeal to go solo after penning some of he world biggest hits seems like a natural progression, and some artists absolutely nail their solo debut.  Formerly known as Ms. D, new artist Dyo just unleashed her debut single, but only after establishing as a dynamic writer helping to co-write and perform on tracks by Maroon 5, Fifth Harmony, Iggy Azalea, NEIKED, Wiley and Chip (to name a few).

Her first solo release, “Arena”, sees the multi-talented Dyo hopping on a beat from Jay Weathers (Mr Eazi, Not3s) and Parker Ighile (Ariana Grande) and delivering an absolutely stunning Afrobeat jam that is perfectly suited for summer.  Hailing from Nigeria, Dyo brings an authentic and dynamic performance to the track from saucy verses to catchy as hell, chant worthy hooks.  While the production remains minimal for the most part, slick guitar melodies and groove worthy percussion set an undeniable vibe for Dyo to slay on.  Delivered along with a beautiful official video, Dyo says about the track, “It instinctively felt right.  I tried to keep my options open but it’s the song that I kept coming back to.  Arena is a celebration of love. It’s a beautiful show you can watch.

While as a songwriter, Dyo has racked up an Ivor Novello nomination, a BMI award and credits on several platinum and gold records, this debut single sets her up as a solo artist in her own right – and without a doubt an artist to watch.  Speaking on her new solo career, Dyo says, “I’m super pumped and ready to release all of this music that I’ve been holding on to for so long.  ‘Arena’ is just the beginning, as I’ve been focusing on putting together an EP.  The experience has been a welcome and exciting change as I had gotten so used to writing for others, and now I’m able to use my own voice for my own music.
