The moment you start lying to your partner, your foundation of trust begins to crumble. Facing these lies can result in a whole other kind of pain, and fil ricchiardi brings those moments of self blame and anxiety to the surface on his newest song “sleepless.”
His first single in almost a year, “sleepless” tackles the loud silence that resonates between every lie. The track infuses hints of dubstep with jazzy guitar licks and fatty bass lines. His voice is a delicate timbre that echoes his lyrics of frustration in trying to fix things but feeling like it only makes things worse, like “I've tried to scream it out, but it only brings you down, and now I see no point anymore" and “I forgot to listen, and I don’t want to waste your time, but I still dream of you at night.”
fil ricchiardi is a 20-year-old Italian-born, Halifax-based singer-songwriter and producer. Aside from focusing mainly on indie pop music, he also studies neuroscience at Dalhousie University. He started writing music at the age of 12 with more of a singer-songwriter style and still tries to keep some of those elements into his music (mixing them with more creative and electronic production). “Sleepless” is his first single in almost a year, having spent most of the time working on his production and writing skills.
