It was only a few short months ago that we brought you the debut single, “Hotel Room”, from Blake Rose. Hailing from Perth (AUS) the 20 year old artist has been creating music nearly his whole life. First staring with the didgeridoo at the age of 5, it wasn’t long before he also picked up guitar, vocals and production. With his eyes on the prize, he began to busk to save money and head to the states. Now in LA, he has already landed a publishing deal with Kobalt and is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new Pop acts in the city of dreams.
With his first single landing in Spotify’s New Music Friday (no easy task for a new artist), Blake Rose has been able to rack up nearly 1M streams – setting his solo career on the fast track. Following up in prime fashion, his new single, “Lost”, is yet another gem and further proof that this brand new artist is without a doubt an artist to watch. Premiered exclusively by Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show, “Lost”, is a touching, anthemic Alt-Pop jam.
From his impressive vocals to his thoughtful lyrics, Blake Rose seems to have a vast understanding of the music he is creating – made even more impressive by the fact that he is not yet old enough to drink legally in the states. With his clear Pop sensibilities front and center, Blake Rose has found his stride by blending a bit of Soul with some Indie Rock edge, creating a signature sound that is clearly turning heads. Raw, compelling, and authentic – Blake Rose is just getting started. Make sure you keep tabs.
