Get in the Mood with Lyves ‘Certain Things’

London is such a hot bed for soul… sexy, sexy, soul.

Italian/Australian singer/songwriter Francesca Bergami has already seen some pretty serious success with her artist project Lyves.  Her debut EP, “Like Water”, has amassed over 15M streams since it’s release, helping Lyves develop a faithful audience via her incredibly soulful and poignant tunes.  Now preparing to release her project, “8 Rooms”, she has recently unleashed the albums third official single, “Certain Things”.

From the very first note, the listener is transported into a dimly lit lounge full of people rocking a slow head bop, foot tap and sexy face.  The down tempo tune may seem minimal in production, but everything is exactly where it is meant to be.  Airy piano, rolling basses, bright melodies and steady percussion drive the track along while Lyves delivers an ethereal and sensual performance that sits cleanly up front.  Adding a bit of edge to the track, Jalen Santoy offers a verse helping to add a new dynamic to the otherwise oh so smooth jam.

While I could go on about the track, sometimes it is best to hear about it directly from the artist.  Lyves says, “Certain Things” was written in one short evening with Nathanael Williams and Simeon Jones from The Colours That Rise. Nathanael and Simeon are used to working together as a duo but we had never all sat in a room together. This was our first idea and within 10 minutes the piano, drums, and vocal melody came together. This song’s energy is about being in the moment, appreciating where we are, and living for right here, right now, despite past and future worries – which is in line with how the song seemed to spontaneously come about. We knew we wanted to feature an artist we love and respect and Jalen’s raw energy and performance brought so much to it. This song feels like a collaboration in many ways and the start of a new chapter personally and musically.
