JAM OF THE WEEK: Jake Isaac – Thinkin ‘Bout You [VIDEO]

Born and raised in South London, Elton John co-signed Jake Isaac never really anticipated becoming a solo artist.  While he has been playing music nearly his whole life, his first taste of the industry came while studying marketing at university.  Having been brought into the studio to track drums and bass on a number of Jazz and Rock projects, Jake Isaac used his skills as a multi-instrumentalist to help support himself through school – but he had no idea what was right around the corner.

His work in the studio helped to light a fire within Jake Isaac, who soon began to write songs of his own while racking up credits alongside artists like Elton John, Angus and Julia Stone, Cynthia Erivo, Duffy, Paloma Faith, Joan as Policewoman, Gabrielle, and Shuggie Otis.  Since 2012, Jake Isaac has switched gears, producing, writing and releasing a number of EP’s and his debut album.  Now with 60M+ streams across his catalog, there is no doubt that Jake Isaac is here to stay.

Penning emotive and relatable tunes, Jake Isaac finds a way to connect with listeners, bearing his soul on each piece of music he creates.  With his raw and dusty vocals leading the way, he relies on the fundamentals of music to drive his message home – beautifully written lyrics, heart touching melodies and incredibly clean and dynamic production.  Following up on soulful ballad, “New York”, Jake Isaac has just unveiled his latest gem, “Thinkin ‘Bout You”, and I just can not get enough.

The down tempo tune relies on a beautifully acoustic bed of guitar and piano to set the tone, while minimal yet precise percussion add just the right amount of rhythm and perfectly arranged background vocals add an air of serenity.  With his soulful vocals sitting front and center, his latest tune is just as sparse as it is concise, with each note playing the exact role it is meant to – a place for everything and everything in its place.

Having already sold out shows around the UK, Germany, USA, Netherlands and Europe, played live at the legendary Glastonbury festival and while also finding regular support from the BBCJake Isaac is workout a doubt a force to be reckoned with.

Keep an eye out for his new EP.  I know I will be.
