Over the last decade, UK Soul artist Liam Bailey has been impressing listeners and wowing audiences with his unforgettable voice and captivating performances. Since releasing his critically acclaimed debut album, “Definitely Now”, in 2014, he has continued to prove himself as one of the most exciting Soul artists out and has received co-signs from the likes of Paloma Faith, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J. With his music finding regular support from tastemakers like Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Jools Holland you don’t have to look too hard to find his music being championed by Billboard, BBC Radio 1, Clash Magazine, Complex, BBC 1Xtra and Spotify.
After releasing, “Brother, Why You Gotta Love Her”, the lead single from his new EP, “Brand New”, towards the end of last year, the buzz-worthy singer/songwriter has finally unveiled the full project. The 6-track EP serves as the Nottingham artists fourth studio project and once again sets him amongst the top tier of artists in the Soul scene. Blending influences from Soul, Reggae and Blues, Liam Bailey has become known for his own signature sound while also drawing comparisons from legends like Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Bob Marley.
The new EP, produced by long time collaborator Rich Cooper (Banks, Lucy Rose,Billie Marten, Tom Odell) and Fred Cox (James Morrison, Col3trane, Lion Babe) once again sets Liam Bailey apart from the pack. From the expansive and mood lifting title track, “Brand New”, to the thought-provoking piano ballad, “You Saw The Devil In Me”, and the uplifting, life-affirming rare groove-esque, “Hold Tight”, the new project proves to have something for everyone while still resolving to be 100% authentic and raw.
About the EP, Liam Bailey says, “The EP is heavily inspired by a lot of new music I’ve been listening to recently & I’m especially loving the synths I’ve been hearing. I linked with Rich Cooper with this fresh sound in mind. The way we worked was really cool; we mainly jammed around until we caught a vibe that felt right to keep going with. We had lots of great musical spaces to write my recent truths against a different sound to what I’m used to. Although I couldn’t help going old school on ‘HoldTight’ with Fred Cox – the song has been on repeat at home, it’s proper uplifting which is rare for me.”
