Joseph Angel Stuns on Debut ‘Shame’

What seems to be a recurring theme on site as of late, talented songwriters who have spent a majority of their career behind the scenes writing hits for other artists are finally stepping out as artists in their own right – ready to show the world what they are made of.

New Orleans born, Houston based singer/songwriter, Joseph Angel is no stranger to success albeit hidden in the credits of some of your favorite tunes.  Signed to Roc Nation in 2010, Joseph Angel has helped to pen Jennifer Lopez’s “Goin’ In” [feat. Flo Rida], contributed to, “We Been On” [feat. R. Kelly, Birdman & Lil Wayne] on the chart-topping self-titled 2013 Rich Gang compilation and wrote Demi Lovato’s “All Night Long” [feat. Missy Elliott & Timbaland] and “Cry Baby”, among many other cuts. However, Rihanna’s ANTI hit “Love On The Brain” would be a game-changer.

A lifelong musician and songwriter, Joseph’s success was years in the making.  Now ready to release his solo project later this year, he has recently unleashed his debut single, “Shame”.  The nostalgic feeling tune sees Joseph flexing his signature blend of Soul via a powerful and dynamic vocal performance over a clean, acoustic driven production.  Lush guitar melodies, fat basslines and rich strings come together to allow Joesph Angel to impress not only with his top notch lyrics, but also with incredibly catchy toplines and an undeniably touching performance.

The slow burning tune is an incredible first release for the multi-talented artist.  The hypnotic tune is more than enough to set the tone for what may be next to come.  An all around beautiful tune about, “a guy trying to find himself after losing himself.”  I think we can all relate.
