Julia Michaels Is Letting Go Of Control In Steamy “Lie Like This”

It seems like yesterday we fell head over heels for Julia Michaels upon the release of her smash song “Issues.” Now, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer and songwriter is taking on the dance floor with her new song “Lie Like This.”

Taking an intimate tune and transforming it into the next club banger, Michaels exudes sultry tones and an uncontainable spirit. This song comes to life through confessional lines like “well I got hay fever from my feelings” and “beautiful once you breakthrough.” The glossy soundscape compliments Michaels genius songwriting, overall charting a new territory for the pop musician. When talking about the tune, Michaels says:

“It’s about being hesitant about this new, beautiful thing and just giving in anyway, because you know that it’s really special. There are so many spectrums of love. One minute, you’re crying on the floor because you’ve been broken up with or something didn’t work out the way that you wanted to. Then, all of a sudden, you’re kissing in a park and you’re holding hands with someone new and you’ve got all these butterflies. It’s just such a broad spectrum, such a range of emotions—love—and I wanted to distill its essence into a song.”

Julia Michaels has transformed the pop music landscape not only from behind-the-scenes as one of the most in-demand songwriters, but also in the spotlight as a solo artist as well. In 2018, she garnered GRAMMY® Awards nominations in the categories of “Best New Artist” and “Song of the Year” for “Issues,” for her 5x-platinum selling debut single “Issues”. As a songwriter, Julia has co-written 25 titles that have charted on the Billboard Hot 100, 14 of which have hit the top 40, including her debut single “Issues,” and two that have hit #1 (Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” & Selena Gomez’ “Lose You To Love Me”).
