London based duo LAIRA (Rachael Jones and Chris Lambrou) have recently released their debut single and it is a tasty slice of R&B inspired goodness.
With both artists coming from different musical backgrounds and educations, the pairing seems to be the best of both worlds. Their debut single, “Company”, is an urban leaning, contemporary feeling modern R&B tune that focuses on smooth harmonies and catchy melodies to resonate with every note.
Lyrically the track tackles yearning for the company of the one that you can’t seem to get out of your mind. A touching and sultry vocal performance is supported by smooth keys, slapping drums and not much more, delivering a low key and spacious mix that allows the vocals to cut right through. A slick arrangement highlighted by an emotional bridge ties it all together and make sure the listener is entertained from beginning to end.
If this is just the beginning for LAIRA, I am excited to see what’s next. I’ll be keeping tabs.
