MAUMAUMAU shares funky new single, “Curveball Whip Cream”

He’s also just announced his debut EP, Meow Meow Meow, out May 21st

LA-based Mexican singer-songwriter/producer MAUMAUMAU has dropped a double whammy on us, not only has he released his bangin’ new single “Curveball Whip Cream”, but he’s also just announced his debit EP, Meow Meow Meow, which will be out on May 21st via AWAL.

“Curveball Whip Creap” will be the opening track from the EP and details the ever-relatable tail of always coming up short, but never giving up. It’s a perfect song to capture the spirit and energy of the underdog behind the project, Mauricio Jiménez. The no holds barred track details the Mau’s own difficulty navigating life’s twists and turns. This vibe is amplified by the buzzy, distorted guitars and playful pounding drum beat.

Sharing the sentiment behind the track, MAUMAUMAU shares: “‘Curveball Whip Cream’ feels like the anthem for this project. It’s an ode to the underdog through and through. It is a song I wrote to depict the sensation of always coming up short but somehow never giving up. It’s a song about acceptance and perseverance. It’s also just a really fun song that hopefully soundtracks all of your little adventures in this crazy new world we’re living in.”

The track follows the release of his 2020 debut: “Mouth Breather,” a song about the anxieties of life during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has now officially surpassed 50K spotify streams.
