Since launching her solo career early this year, fresh-faced artist Meia has steadily grown her fanbase through well written, impressively moody and unapologetic Pop tunes. Since releasing her debut EP, “boys don’t want a sad girl”, she has been prepping to take her artistry on the road in the new year, and most recently she has unveiled her latest single, “what you want”.
About her latest offering, Meia says, “’what u want’ was written on a night I felt inspired by pretty, dark lullabies. The main lyric “I don’t know what you want from me” describes the idea of being led on or giving your all to someone who isn’t giving back. Another twisted way some people could hear this song is as if I am talking to anxiety, which all of my fans know I speak out about unapologetically. Overall, I wanted this song to sound stripped, imperfect and real because that’s how I felt writing it.”
Over a down-tempo, minimal, piano driven production, Meia delivers a haunting and vulnerable performance. With her stunning vocals sitting front and center, Meia finds a way to connect with the listener on a deep and personal level thanks to the tunes ever-relatable lyrics. Having racked up hundreds of thousand of plays over 2019, Meia is poised to make some major strides in 2020 and her latest tune is the perfect send off to what has been an incredible year for the new artist.
