Multi-Streamed Singer-Songwriter, Jackson Guthy, Releases New Power-Pop Ballad, "Like I Did."
Jackson Guthy is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles who has grown up in the music industry. His single, "Giants", amassed millions of streams across all platforms and was featured on iconic TV shows, such as Grey's Anatomy. Now, Jackson Guthy is back with a new power-pop ballad and he is coming in with full force.
"Like I Did" is a classic mega-pop ballad with a clear piano-driven melody, soulful harmonies, and raspy vocals. “Like I Did” is saturated in vocal harmonies, mimicking that of a choir, while the violins further add to the heart-wrenching emotion of the song. Guthy’s voice is full and led by emotion, displaying not only his incredible singing chops, but that he has a voice perfect for radio and billboard charting hits.
“Like I Did” details a heartbreak and a loss of a relationship. Listeners follow the emotional arch of Guthy’s lyrics as he begs for the return of his partner and reminisces on the days they were together. The track finds Guthy at the precipice of realizing a relationship has shifted directions from where it once was. The joy, comfort, and commitment that was once experienced are now absent. "Like I Did" is a heartfelt plea that lingers long after the song ends and one that many listeners can relate to. Guthy notes,
"I wrote 'Like I Did' about a point in a relationship when you can feel the person you care about slipping away and there's not much you can do to fix it. You start to think about the times you were truly happy or in love, and in that, there's a sense of peace knowing you were able to bring someone so much happiness at one point, even if you don't anymore. I started this one with my good friend Cody Lovaas and between him & Rory Andrew, the production and song really came to life."
Guthy released his debut EP, Stories in 2019. Following the success of this EP and his standalone single, "What If It's Not", Jackson Guthy is ready to become a household name as he releases more music in 2022.
