The Anglo-French art/alt-rock band The Animal Objective is born from the imaginative and psychedelic mind of British musician and graphic artist Tim Naish. Initially planned to be a solo project, it fully came to life after Naish moved to France in 2019, where he joined forces with three like-minded musicians: bassist Sylvie Pichard, drummer Tonyo Chauveau, and guitarist Jojo Pannier. Together, they created, "Creature Law", a debut EP that captures their collective vision of eccentricity and creativity. Only recently released in October, the record not only defines the group’s unique sound but also highlights their skill in blending diverse influences into a unified and captivating piece of art.

"Creature Law", is a daring, five-track exploration that defies traditional genre limits by combining intricate grooves, mesmerizing melodies, and an unyielding energy that commands attention. The project is laden with abstract rhythms, slick guitar riffs, and outside-of-the-box sound design and production techniques that all come together to create an impressive and sophisticated sound that helps the EP defy imitation.

Each track delivers its own surprises, featuring complex arrangements and an element of unpredictability that encourages repeated listening. The EP possesses a layered yet approachable textural quality, balancing its experimental nature with moments of melodic clarity. The outcome is a listening experience that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally engaging.

The debut single, “Sublime,” begins with driving guitar riff, and gritty vocals, gradually evolving into a groove-driven exploration of contrasts, with each band member putting their best foot forward and collectively finding an undeniable synergy that shines from beginning to end. Naish’s signature vocals, characterized by an enigmatic tone, add another layer of intrigue to the track, while his lyrics invite listeners to interpret the song in their own way. As the chorus builds to a peak, the track assumes an almost cinematic quality, its soaring energy balanced by the subtle intricacies of its arrangement. “Sublime”, is a fitting title for a song that feels both otherworldly and profoundly human.

The strength of, "Creature Law", lies not only in its diversity but in the meticulous execution of its ideas. Every element feels deliberate, from the interwoven rhythms to the balance between dissonance and melody. The EP captures a sense of playful experimentation while remaining anchored in the band’s overarching vision. As a complete work, it resonates with the thematic and musical cohesion that many artists only achieve after years of refinement.

The Animal Objective has demonstrated that it’s possible to create music that is both technical and accessible as they continue pushing boundaries. "Creature Law", is an impressive debut from a fresh-faced group that is sure to defy expectations. The EP's vibrant energy and inventive compositions make it a standout release in the Alternative and Art Rock scene. Whether you’re a fan of the genre’s pioneers or simply seeking music that challenges and rewards, this record is worth your time.
