Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a big fan of G House. The sub-genre best known for dirty basslines, Hip Hop vocals and it’s dark and rhythmic grooves is one that only a handful of producers seem to be able to consistently nail every time.
While LA duo Phenatiks may in fact be a new name to me, all it took was hearing their new release, “Bad Bitches”, to know that they’ve got it figured out. Opening with heavy drums and percussion, this track is built for the clubs, ensuring that any DJ with a sync button will have no problem mixing it seamlessly into their sets.
Once the track gets going, the urban influences take hold with some pitched vocals and haunting Trap influenced bells adding a bit of melody. The track slowly builds into the drop where an unstoppable, gritty baseline hits and takes hold. The addition of some more vocals helps to add some rhythm to the track while also making sure the Hip Hop influence is heard loud and clear.
This is G House done right. I’ll be knocking this for a minute I’m sure.
