Rad Brown Keeps It Real On Album Upper Crust Confections

Upper Crust Confections is the brainchild of super producer Rad Brown. As an independent release, this album brings together one of the most epic lineups in hip-hop history of emcees and vocalists from groups such as Nappy Roots,  Outlawz, Hieroglyphics, Souls Of Mischief, Living Legends, Brand Nubian, Leaders of the New School, Jurassic 5, The Pharcyde, Luniz, Swollen Members, Flipmode Squad, Visionaries, L.A. Symphony, Army Of The Pharaohs, Cannibal Ox, Watashi Wa, and more. Singles for the album include "Pace Myself" and "Only Love".

Speaking on the concept of the album Rad Brown said "The title is meant to be a light parody of commercial and gangsta rap, which often prides itself as “coming from the streets,” as if good art or authentic hip-hop HAS to come from there. I thought that the notion of commercial (and wanna be) rappers “keeping it real,” indulging in their own self-projections and violent fantasies, and excusing homophobic and misogynistic lyrics as analogies or secondary tales from the streets sound as ridiculous as the polar opposite. I’m a middle class white guy who grew up in suburbia trying to be an appreciator and sponge of everything around me".
