Inspired by viral meme artist IceJJFish, bay area rapper Chow Mane has decided to release his own take on the internet sensation’s off-kilter melodies in his new hit (appropriately titled) “IceJJFish”. Slated to release on Friday August 21st, “IceJJFish” also features Grammy-Nominated rapper Guapdad 4000. The rappers verses flow seamlessly into one another, representing the South Bay in all of its glory. Their sarcastic, lighthearted lyrics represent some Asian American culture while bouncing pro-environmentalist views off of hot girls drinking jameson on a hot summer night. For those unfamiliar with the reference, IceJJFish is an internet personality singer, dancer and rapper known for his eccentric falsetto vocals in his 2014 hit “On The Floor”. The song made him an online celebrity, proving that rappers don’t have to take themselves too seriously in order to make it. In an ode to JJFish’s signature vocals, Chow Mane & Guapdad’s “IceJJFish” offers bouncy, buoyant lyrical delivery over endlessly danceable beats.
Chow Mane has maintained his momentum this year, with “IceJJFish” being the fourth of several hit singles to come out over the course of this summer. This collaboration with Guapdad 4000 comes ahead of his “South Bay Summer” project, slated to release in mid September. Guapdad’s illustrious career has brought him to the Billboard Top 200 with the 2019 Dreamville compilation Revenge of the Dreammakers III. The Grammy-nominated artist comes decorated with accolades and personality, making him the perfect pairing for 88Rising competition finalist, Chow Mane. Both rappers offer tight rhymes, clever word play and punch-packed lyrics. With tens of millions of streams combined, fans are bound to love the late summer hit as an ode to the internet sensations during a time when everyone is quite literally, living on the internet.
