When it comes to being a creative, there are very few outlets that Parisian artist Sebastian does not dabble in. The Dj/producer/visual artist has had some major success both behind the scenes and in the spotlight, whether it be from his own releases or working with artists like Frank Ocean, Kavinsky, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Philippe Katerine, Woodkid, Daft Punk, Kelis, The Kills and Rage Against the Machine.
Since first turning heads with his debut album, “Total”, in 2011, Sebastian has kept busy supporting the project with a world tour and producing for other artists while also collaborating with world-renowned fashion house Saint Laurent and luxury label’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello. Now preparing to drop his long awaited and highly anticipated sophomore album, Sebastian has recently released the first single, “Run for Me”, featuring world class American R&B artist Gallant.
About the lead single, Sebastian says, “We made it in one day, in one take without stopping. The melody evolved wherever it seemed to want to go all by itself. I tracked Gallant down for the vocals because he shared the same power and logic that the song aimed to have and I wasn’t disappointed. The song really came into its own when the vocals were laid down on the track”. The end result is a seductive and anthemic tune that relies on soaring vocals and lush electronic textures and perfectly sets the tone for his forthcoming project – due out this fall.
Delivered along with a stunning official video directed by US director Todd Tourso, the new single is a brilliant first taste of what we can expect from the full album. About the video Todd Tourso says, “When I first heard the song I was just struck by how cinematic it felt. I wanted to create something that felt like an epic tragic love story, but the post-communist version, completely stripped of context. Sebastian and I were speaking over FaceTime, and we decided to use this singular idea of a car ride to take you on the complete emotional arc of a broken relationship. We shot in Belgrade and it was one of those special shoot’s that just felt like summer camp.”
