Simen Mitlid Keeps it Chill

The new tune, “This Time“, from Simen Mitlid is an absolute vibe.

The Oslo based artist delivered a somber, laid back gem with his latest release and I am digging it.

While the whole approach for the tune comes off as unspectacular, the end result is without a doubt anything but.  Coming off more like a jam session than a single, the energy portrayed is one that is easy to catch and hold on to.

Janky acoustic guitar, light keys, and soft spoken vocals playfully combine to begin the track, setting the tone and filling your soul with only the chilliest of thoughts.  Soon enough, male and female vocals join forces to create a beautiful harmony, with both of their tones fitting together like two pieces of the cutest puzzle ever created.

It isn’t until about half way through the track that the real magic happens with the addition of some drums, electric guitar and the female vocals taking lead.  The energy picks up (just enough).  While keeping the emotional feel, there is enough pressure to get you tapping your foot and swaying – setting you up perfectly to join in and sing along for the outro of beautiful vocal chants.
