For so many artists, working behind the scenes often becomes too much to bear. As you create for others, your most honest and personal art is lost hidden in the shadows – hoping to place songs with artists while putting your own career on hold essentially. While some artists prefer to stay behind the scenes, others have an undeniable pressure to step out from behind the curtain and show the world what they are made of.
Singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Edwards is one such artist. Hailing from a small town in South-East England, Jack taught himself how to play guitar at a young age and continued to hone his skills straight through college, where he eventually landed management. Soon enough, he was spending months in LA writing for artists like Charlie Puth, but when he returned home, he found the excitement of writing for others to be short lived.
With a new fire burning inside, Jack began to write, produce and record originals upon his return to the UK. Now with a number of new releases under his belt, Jack Edwards has recently launched his new artist project SKOLES via his debut single, “Am I Going Too Crazy?”. The undercover Pop song relies on minimal production, dynamic vocals and interesting toplines to help SKOLES create a sound all his own.
About the inspiration behind the tune he explains, “When something is over that you’ve been trying to keep alive for a long time, there’s always this sense of ‘I could have handled myself so much better.’ I felt like I’d hurt a lot of people all at once, and it all got a bit much. I wanted to write something totally honest about that part of my life. It was really sh*t.”
Between the percussive and intriguing production, huge vocal comps and smooth delivery, SKOLES is here to bring a vibe reminiscent to, “The Weeknd on acid,” which personally I think is a great analogy. Check it.
