Take A Cruise with Joan on ‘Drive All Night’

Hailing from Little Rock (Arkansas), fast rising Alt-Pop duo joan have been making waves since first coming together by blending memorable lyrics with 80’s inspired synthwave beats.  Coming from humble beginnings, Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford first met when they ended up on the same bill as part of different groups.  The two musicians quickly became friends and after finding their chemistry in the studio, joan was born.

While they may have only recently released their debut EP, “porta“, joan have been able to rack up over 14M streams and have been steadily on tour ever since.  With prior tour slots around North America with the likes of Alice Merton, Jeremy Zucker, Half Alive, courtship and COIN – joan are now ready to take off for a set of dates in support of Indie Pop group The Aces.  Beyond their growing catalog, joan have been touted as having a captivating and electric live show and were recently named a standout act at 2018’s Great Escape Festival by The Telegraph and The Independent.

Most recently, joan have released their brand new single, “drive all night”, and it is an outright jam that I have had on repeat since it landed in my inbox.  With a brilliant Pop structure and lush retro production, the overall vibe of the track takes over from the very beginning and keeps the listener hooked until the very end.  While the soft spoken yet poignant vocals lead the way, layers of synths, atmospheric elements, verbed out drums and slick solos set the mood.  The feel good tune allows the listener to easily let go of all that may be on their mind in exchange for a care-free sense of wanderlust.

Make sure you add this one to your playlists and see the upcoming tour dates below.  If you get a chance to catch them live, I’m sure it will be worth the time.
