I’ll tell you, there is some great Indie Rock coming out lately… here is another one that will without a doubt be added to my personal playlists.
Following their April debut of, “Boys Will Stray” (which was described by BBC Radio 6’s Gideon Coe as a “Strong Debut” and was selected by Tom Robinson for his BBC Radio 6 “Fresh on the Net” show) the four piece UK (Staffordshire) indie/alternative group Camens graces us with their second, “Redolence.”
Their latest tune is an upbeat feel good jam perfect for your summer road trips. Playful vocals soar on top of the vibrant, high-energy production only made better by the fresh visual treatment.
We got to speak to the groups lead singer Scott Powell a bit about the record…
RDFO: How long have you been creating music as Camens?
Scott: Camens started in December 16 on the back of the end of a former band consisting of the same band members. We went for a change of sound and a re brand for the release of all the new music this year. We put our fist single out in April and this the second came out earlier this month.
RDFO: Where does the inspiration for this sound come from?
Scott: Sound wise we all have some quite varying influences and then some that we all lock on that seem to have become the base for our sound. We’re big Paul Simon fans.. the more mainstream stuff we right all has a kind of Graceland feel about it. I Wrote Redolence after listening to a lot of Vampire Weekend , i think i had Haim’s first record on repeat around that time as well. Cool guitar pop is kinda what we were going for. All hail Ariel Rechtshaid!
RDFO: Where in the UK are you based?
Scott: I’m from Stoke on Trent in the midlands .. the other 3/4s of the band are from a town out of stoke called leek. Basically Manchester for anyone not familiar with the midlands.
RDFO: What is up next for you?
Scott: We’re right in the middle of a busy festival season at the moment.. we came back from Latitude last week and next week we’re of to Boardmasters in Newquay and Green man in Wales which should be a lot of fun. Then we’ve more music coming out, our third single which we will be dropping before summer is through.
