AUS Singer/Songwriter Bree Rusev Stuns with New Single "Dotted Lines"

When you listen to as much music as I do, it isn’t everyday that a new artists lands on your radar and instantly blows you away. With an incredible amount of talent around the world, I’ve come to realize, you just never know where the next superstar is going to come from. Sometimes, they come from Australia.

A couple of weeks ago, Bree Rusev landed in my inbox with her new single, “Dotted Lines,” and it didn’t take long before I was hooked. As someone who is a sucker for words, I am always excited when a new artist comes through with a song that that hits me deep down inside. While there are an endless amount of good songwriters around the world, there are a far fewer number of greats. With that being said, I can tell you without doubt, Bree Rusev is a few notches above her contemporaries.

After listening to, “Dotted Lines,” more than I few times, I went on to read the pitch that came along with it, and then it all started to make sense. Since shortly after she first picked up a guitar at the age of 14, Bree Rusev has been writing songs. While the press release stated that it has always come naturally for her, I may take it even further and say that she may have been born to write. Having immediately blown me away, I have since learned that I am not the only music lover that she has impressed. In 2021, Bree Rusev took home first place in The International Songwriting Competition; the worlds largest songwriting competition with powerhouses like Coldplay and Hozier representing as judges. This is a worldwide songwriting competition with who knows how many contestants - and Bree Rusev took home the gold.

Beyond her impressive lyricism, Bree Rusev has a voice and musical understanding that is hard to overlook, creating her own brand of Indie Folk that fits right in with the greats and yet still feels all her own. Having only launched her solo project in 2020, she has so far released a number of stand-out singles, growing a devoted and engaged fan base that are holding onto every note. Her latest release, “Dotted Lines,” is an impressive and emotive tune that surely proves that Bree Rusev as an artist creating music far beyond her years. While 2022 may be coming to a close, I can pretty confidently say that this was one of my personal favorite tunes this year and I will surely be listening to it for years to come.
