If there’s an artist out there now to uplift you, it has to be Amey St. Cyr. Following on from Amey’s debut release ‘Life’s too short’, a nu-disco dance anthem, comes new single ‘Do You Feel It Too??’
Amey’s new track is so infectious and feel-good, you will become a fan as soon as you hear it! Her unique shade of dance music is fantastic with great songwriting, vocals and smooth production from Dan Clarke.
London-based Amey studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama for 4 years in the 80s, graduating with a B.Ed Honours in Speech and Drama in 1988. Amey was well on her way to a successful career in music in the mid-nineties when fate intervened. After giving birth to her daughter, Amey developed crippling postnatal depression and her band broke up, leading to a period of alcohol and drug addiction. Now free from her illness and addiction, she is able to commit herself to music once again. As well as singing, Amey is also an actor and has appeared in music videos for the likes of Krept & Konan and Big Narstie.
She has also recently written and performed a theatrical piece with her daughter Zakia, called Voices Of The Motherland, exploring their relationship and touching upon issues of immigration, race, family and identity which you can enjoy HERE.
Amey’s music making also extends towards helping other musicians. She works for Key Changes who provide award-winning recovery programmes for musicians experiencing mental health problems. Amey tells us: “When it’s not lockdown I assist in delivering karaoke and open mics to acute, rehabilitation and forensic wards. We basically throw a party on psychiatric wards! A new role for me after lockdown will be taking some of the people who use Key Changes services to open mics in and around London. I will support them while they perform.”
Amey makes uplifting, retro-tinged dance music with a positive message at a time when the world needs it most. A confident, inspirational artist, Amey is currently performing at gigs and open mic nights around London, and is guaranteed to get the dancefloor moving.
