Andrea’s upcoming single ‘Fighting For’ is the first release from this rising Norwegian star out of a series we have to look forward to. The song has sleek, percussion-driven electro-pop production with hints of Sigrid, Christine & The Queens and Ellie Goulding, featuring Andrea’s powerful vocals.
Mentioning a failed relationship as well as the struggles with making and seeing through plans, ‘Fighting For’ addresses the pressures in the life of a young adult. It’s a song about growing pains too and that angst of comparing yourself to others, with the song’s lyrics lamenting: ‘And sometimes I wish I was another girl / With another smile and prettier eyes / But I’m not, no I’m not.’ It seems all the more relevant in an age where Instagram is a constant and comparisons are unavoidable. There’s that fear of not being enough, and questioning whether you’re headed in the right direction while others appear to have it all sussed out: ‘People going places making me feel slow / Think I’m going crazy, I just need to know / That one day I will be sure / I know what I’m fighting for.’
This is a highly personal song that the artist has written out of her own experiences, as she explains: “I can often feel anxious when I think about the future. Especially now with everything that’s going on in the world. However, I’m hoping that with time I’ll have a better idea of where I’m heading in life and what I’m “fighting for”.
‘Fighting For’ by Andrea is out 18th September 2020. Follow the artist on Instagram, Youtube, and Spotify.
