If there’s one country we can all agree make pop music very well, it’s Sweden. From prolific producers (Max Martin, Shellback) to chart topping artists (Tove Lo, Robyn, ABBA), singer-songwriter SHY Martin is no exception to the rule. When we first covered SHY Martin, it was for the release of her 2018 single “Forget to Forget”, since then, the strong releases have just kept on coming. For those who aren’t familiar with her music (yet), SHY Martin is quickly establishing herself as one of Sweden’s leading pop forces. With songwriting credits on music from Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Kygo, and Ellie Goulding, in addition to over 2.5 billion combined streams on Spotify alone, her accolades are nothing short of impressive.
Latest single “Still the Same’, a collaboration with fellow Swedish artist Boy In Space, brings the catchy pop hooks we’ve come to know and love from SHY Martin. The lyrics of the song center around familiar feelings arising between two former lovers and much like the song title, things still feel the same. There’s a certain sweetness to it all, from reminiscing about shared memories and the realization of knowing one another so deeply, insecurities and all. The release follows a string of recent singles including “Slow”, “Make Us Never Happen” & “Out of My Hands” and precedes an eagerly awaited EP, slated for release later this year.
