Artist to watch, Tayo Sound drops catchy new single “Someone New”

Tayo Sound is an artist on the rise, period. At just 18-years old. he’s already signed a major label deal with Arista Records, released three well received singles, and collaborated with the likes of Al Shux (Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Lana Del Rey), and George Reid (of Aluna George). Industry successes aside, most importantly, he’s also consistently dropping great tunes.

Latest single “Someone New’ seamlessly blends funk and soul influences into a modern indie sound. Produced by Rob Milton (Easy Life, Holly Humberstone), the track has a laissez faire attitude about it. That is to say, nothing about the song’s sentiment or production style feels OTT or forced. It’s a totally smooth, ultra catchy bedroom pop vibe that somehow feels entirely fresh. Part of that is due to the fact that Tayo’s vocal style seems like it would flow so effortlessly over almost any type of genre. With his distinctly melodic flow and almost apathetic approach to the song’s subject matter, Tayo lets us know he’s not ready to find “someone new” after coming out of a relationship. It’s as catchy as it is relatable.

Prior to his recent releases, Tayo was long gearing up for a career in music industry. He left school at the age of 16 and busked full time to purchase the production equipment needed to start recording his own material. It didn’t take long before the US and UK music markets started catching on to his self-released material, leading him to where he is today.
