It’s my anger towards our racial climate with just a sprinkle of my traumatic experiences within it. I wanted to talk about companionship and loyalty, to give credit where credit is due. This is as much a race conversation as it is a gender conversation starting with my sister who helped raised me and my mother and her partner, my step mother, and my best friend, my girlfriend, and our friends who ride when the system tries so hard to put us down. I tried to create something impactful with a punch but smooth within a pressuring environment. It’s like my Floyd technique as a writer. I want you to feel every single word…”
